Alicia Moulton is Communications Lead at the Energy Futures Initiative (EFI). In this role, she works with David Ellis, Vice President of Policy Strategy and Communications, to lead the marketing and strategic communications efforts at EFI, amplifying its work to advance energy and climate solutions through coalitions, thought leadership, and science-based analysis.
Alicia has 8 years of experience in energy communications—in both the non-profit sector and serving clients at the U.S. Department of Energy. She was most recently Communications Manager for OurEnergyPolicy (OEP)—a non-partisan, non-profit organization that facilitates dialogue across the political spectrum on key energy issues through its prolific Energy Leaders Webinar Series, live events, and roundtables. Working on a small team, she jumpstarted and grew OEP’s outreach to journalists and congressional offices, and helped plan and host events. She led social media and digital communications during her time there, growing OEP’s Twitter following and amplifying its event series to key audiences.
Previously, Alicia was a communications specialist at BCS, LLC, supporting clients at the U.S. Department of Energy’s Office of Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy (EERE). She established and led communications for EERE’s Strategic Analysis Team—setting up processes, and planning and implementing outreach strategies for the team’s cross-cutting portfolio of projects that included electrification futures, clean energy manufacturing, renewable energy grid integration, energy efficiency, and city energy planning.
She also provided key communications support to EERE’s Bioenergy Technologies Office. Alicia contributed to strategic communications planning efforts and website redesign, wrote blog posts and regular news content to explain the office’s work to both stakeholder and lay audiences, helped train new team members, drafted social media and newsletter content, and promoted BETO’s annual conference. She also edited everything from outreach materials to 300- page reports and managed editing of the highly anticipated 2016 Billion-Ton Report.
Alicia has a Bachelor of Arts in Communications (Print Journalism) from Brigham Young University and has completed graduate coursework in energy law and policy from Johns Hopkins University’s Energy Policy and Climate Program.
