Amid the global summits, congressional negotiations, and local debates around what solutions will help the U.S. to reach our climate goals, you probably heard the term “carbon capture.”
Most scientists say that without some mechanism to remove CO2 from the atmosphere, there’s no way we’ll limit global warming to the 1.5-to-2-degree Celsius target set in the 2015 Paris Agreement. Carbon capture technology has to be used in tandem with other solutions, like transitioning more fully to renewable energy sources.
